My Feed is your primary landing page β a two-tab feed (Inbox + Discover) that keeps you informed about room activity and helps you discover new content.
In this guide
My Feed is your primary landing page after signing in. It collects activity from every Study Room you belong to and surfaces discovery content β all in one place, with zero configuration required.
Whether you have zero rooms or twenty, My Feed always has something for you. It works immediately without any setup.
My Feed has two tabs at the top, similar to Twitter/X:
Process and clear unread activity from rooms you've joined. Think of it as a task list β triage items and reach the "caught-up" state.
Browse platform content beyond your rooms. Trending posts, room recommendations, and book promos. Always populated, never empty.
The Inbox tab shows an unread count badge (π₯ Inbox (7)). The Discover tab has no badge. The default tab is chosen based on your activity β if you have unread items or room memberships, Inbox opens first. If you have zero rooms, Discover opens first.
On mobile, My Feed uses a TikTok-style vertical swipe model. Each card fills the screen. You swipe to triage:
Swipe up = Skip
Sends the card to the back of the queue. It'll come back after you've seen everything else.
Swipe left = Mark read
Dismisses the card permanently (green flash). You're done with it.
Swipe right = Bookmark
Saves the post to your Bookmarks AND dismisses it (orange flash). Save for later in one gesture.
Tap = Visit
Opens the full post, poll, or event in the room. Feed state is preserved.
Long press = Context menu
Alternative: mark read, bookmark, skip, or mute the room β without gestures.
On desktop, cards are displayed as a scrollable list with click-based actions β no swipe gestures. Same data, different presentation.
When you swipe up to skipa card, it doesn't disappear forever. It moves to the back of the queue and cycles back only after you've seen all fresh (unskipped) items.
This creates a natural triage rhythm:
The Inbox is finishable. When you've processed every unread item, you reach the caught-up state:
β
You're all caught up
New activity will appear here when your rooms post something.
From here you can Browse Discover β or manage your room subscriptions. The page polls for new activity every 60-90 seconds and updates automatically via real-time push.
Every feed card can be bookmarked. On mobile, swipe right. On desktop, click the bookmark icon. Bookmarked posts are saved to your Bookmarks page and marked as read so they leave your Inbox.
Think of it as a save-and-dismiss: you acknowledge the post and keep a link to it for later, all in one action.
π At /homeroom/bookmarks you can:
The Discover tab is always populated with content from across the platform β trending posts, room recommendations, book promos, and platform announcements. It uses the same swipe gestures but with different consequences:
Swipe up = Skip
Soft negative β 'show fewer like this.' Algorithmic tuning.
Swipe left = Not interested
Hard negative β don't show this content again.
Swipe right = Save / Join
Bookmark the content or join the room (context-dependent).
You control which rooms appear in your Inbox. At the caught-up state or via Feed Settings, you can toggle rooms on or off:
Your feed stays live while the page is open. When new activity arrives from one of your rooms, the Inbox tab badge updates automatically.
Pull down to refresh on mobile, or wait for the periodic poll (every 60-90 seconds). The caught-up state updates in real time β when a room posts something new, your Inbox springs back to life.
