💰 Monetize Your Study Room

Charge a monthly membership so your community supports you — and earn a share of the AI usage happening inside your room. This guide walks owners through setting it up, and members through joining and paying.

💡 What is room monetization?

As a room owner, you can earn real cash from your Study Room in two ways:

💳 Paid membership

Set a monthly price. Members pay by card to join and access your member-only content.

🤖 AI usage share

Earn a share of the revenue from AI used inside your room — automatically, no extra setup.

Your earnings collect in a wallet and are paid out to your bank account once they reach a minimum amount. The platform keeps a small fee on membership fees, and your usage share is calculated after the AI provider's cost — so you never owe anything.

💡Membership is a cashsubscription. It's separate from AI credits — unless you choose to bundle a monthly credit allowance, members still use credits for AI features as usual.

👑 For owners — set up monetization

Open your room's Settings

Go to your room and open Settings. Only you, the owner, can change membership settings.

Open the Membership page

On the Settings page, click 💳 Membership (near the top, next to the Tutorial link). This opens the Membership settings page.

Turn on paid membership and set your price

Toggle Enable paid membership, then enter your Monthly price in cents — for example 500 = $5.00 per month. Save your changes.

(Optional) Adjust advanced options

Platform fee % and Monthly AI credit allowance can be left blank to use the platform defaults. Only set them if you want to override the standard share or bundle credits with membership.

Set up payouts so you can get paid

Open your room's Earnings page and click Set up payouts. You'll complete a quick Stripe onboarding (identity + bank details). Until this is done, money can't be sent to you.

Track earnings and request payout

Your Earnings page shows your live balance, how close you are to the payout minimum, and a Request payoutbutton once you're eligible. Your whole balance is paid out in one go.
⚠️Your room must stay visible and you need to keep your payout account verified to receive money. If you delete the room, current earnings remain payable, but memberships are cancelled.

Open the room

Find the room from Study Rooms or follow a link the owner shared with you.

Click the join button

You'll see a button like "Join — $5.00/mo". The price shown is what the owner set.

Complete payment

Clicking join takes you to a secure checkout page. Enter your card details and confirm. The charge is monthly and you can cancel anytime.

You're in — instantly

Once payment succeeds you're a member and member-only content unlocks right away.

Manage or cancel anytime

Manage your membership from your billing settings. If you cancel, you keep access until the current period ends — no partial charges, no surprises.
ℹ️The membership is for this room only. Joining one paid room doesn't change your access to other rooms or your AI credit balance.

❓ Common questions

What does the platform fee mean?

A small percentage of each membership payment goes to the platform to cover payment processing and service. You keep the rest.

When do I actually get paid?

Your earnings collect in your wallet. Once the balance reaches the minimum payout amount and your payout account is verified, you can request a payout — the whole balance is sent to your bank.

Can I give members a monthly AI credit allowance?

Yes — the optional Monthly AI credit allowance in your membership settings lets you bundle credits with the membership. Leave it blank to keep AI billing separate.

Is membership the same as buying AI credits?

No. Membership is a monthly cash subscription to the room. Credits are what power AI features platform-wide. They're billed separately unless the owner bundles an allowance.

What happens if I cancel my membership?

You keep access until the end of the period you paid for, then member-only content locks again. You won't be charged again.
